Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery was consecrated on May 24, 1959 by his Excellency, the Most Reve
rend Coleman F. Carroll in an area of Miami-Dade County that was then nothing but wide-open spaces and acres of cattle. In the sixty plus years that have passed, we find ourselves now part of the City of Doral - a thriving and vibrant community - also home to the beautiful Our Lady of Guadalupe parish which sits strategically on the southwest corner of our combined properties. The cemetery has seen many families pass through the gates in six decades. From our opening to today, more than 60,000 souls have been laid to rest here in peace and tranquility.
The 100+ acre grounds of Our Lady of Mercy are a journey through Miami history. Members of the Catholic faithful buried here include veterans of both World Wars, the Korean War and the War in Vietnam. Unknown souls who washed up on the shores of Miami from Cuba and Haiti and those who have passed after seeking refuge in Miami from Communism and dictatorships are also buried in our sacred grounds. The bishops of the Archdiocese of Miami are at rest here with our beloved priests and members of several communities of women religious. Along with all of these and other notable Catholic individuals who were a part of Miami history, we care for the final resting places of all the men and women who leave a lasting symbol of their faith within our grounds as part of the tapestry of the Church – the Communion of Saints.
Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery is a sacred space, a place of prayer and quiet reflection that invites us to remember all those “who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.” We invite you to come visit our beautiful sacred grounds and imagine how we can serve you now or in the future.
